Confidences de Prieure Lichine 2020

This red Margaux wine comes from Chateau Prieure Lichine, whose origins date back centuries to when the estate was a Benedictine priory. After the French Revolution fragmented the property, it was revitalized in the 1950s by Alexis Lichine, a savvy wine merchant who restored the vineyards and winery. The estate expanded to about 58 hectares across prime Margaux sites. The second wine, Confidences de Prieure Lichine, mainly blends Merlot with some Cabernet Sauvignon from younger vines. It matures for 14 months in second and third-use French oak barrels, resulting in an approachable wine even in youth. The palate offers velvety texture with luscious cassis, blackberry, and ripe plum flavors lingering on a long finish.
