Meursault Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Chateau de Meursault Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022
This red Burgundy wine requires optional decanting for up to 30 minutes before serving. Chateau de Meursault, with origins dating back to the 11th century, stands as a historic landmark in the region, now owned by Olivier Halley. Alongside manager Stephane Follin-Arbelet, they have transitioned the estate to fully organic farming over the past decade. Situated in the heart of the Meursault appellation, the estate spans 65 hectares of vineyards across premier parcels in the Cote de Beaune. This Bourgogne Pinot Noir blends grapes from the prolific vineyards of Savigny and the robust plots of Pommard, all grown in stony soil on exposed hilltops. Aromas of ripe strawberry, raspberry, and plum mingle with subtle hints of baking spice, pepper, and lilac. On the palate, the wine is lively and fresh with pulpy red berry flavors, vanilla, bay leaf, and toasted nut undertones. Its fine, well-structured tannins make it suitable for some bottle aging. Excellent paired with grilled meats or dishes rich in umami gravy.

Chateau de Meursault Meursault du Chateau 2022
Chateau de Meursault is a prestigious Burgundy estate with roughly 1,000 years of tradition. Over centuries, it changed hands multiple times, with vineyard expansions during the 19th century by the Serre family. Acquired by the Halley family in 2012, the estate now covers approximately 65 hectares across more than 100 plots. The Chardonnay grapes for this wine come from a low hill vineyard planted on brown calcareous-clayey soils with east/southeast exposure. The grapes are hand-harvested, and fermentation occurs in barrels lasting about 15 days, followed by aging on lees for just over a year to develop roundness and complexity. The wine offers fragrant aromas of stone fruit, apples, and pears with elegant white flower notes. On the palate, it is round, fresh, and fruity with a medium body and a strong mineral backbone. The finish is long and persistent. Ideal as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with salmon tartare, crab or scampi dishes, and veal.

No decanting needed before serving. Chateau de Meursault has long been a central figure in Burgundy winemaking. The estate owns 65 hectares in the Cote de Beaune, including parcels of 5 Grand Crus and 18 Premier Crus. Since 2012, the Halley family has driven a quality renaissance here and at nearby Chateau de Marsannay.
